Flor Ivonne Chirino-Klevans, Ph.D.

Program Director, Center for International Programs, Laureate International Universities

 

Dr. Ivonne Chirino-Klevans is currently the Program Director at the Center for International Programs at Walden University. Before her appointment as Program Director she was Faculty Chair for the Organizational Psychology PhD program at Walden.

 

Dr. Chirino-Klevans served as the Program Director for Duke Corporate Education, ranked number one in the world in executive education by the Financial Times. Prior to this, she was the Assistant Dean for Executive Education at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Dr. Chirino-Klevans has expertise in Global Executive Education Program Design, International Client Management, and the use of technology to design online learning across cultures.

 

Dr. Chirino-Klevans received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Universidad Iberoamericana, and also holds an MBA from Universidad de las Américas, and a Masters in Psychology from Georgia College and State University. Earlier in her career, she also served as the psychologist for the Mexican national rowing team, and contributed to the team winning a silver medal at the 1991 Pan Am Games. She herself is a Pan American games medalist in gymnastics and national champion in Gymnastics.

Howard Wach, Ph. D.

Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs

Bronx Community College, City University of New York

 

Dr. Howard Wach joined Bronx Community College as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History in 1998. He first taught online in 1999. He has directed faculty development programs for online teaching at BCC since 2003, and he has published and presented both in history and in academic technology.

 

In 2008 Dr. Wach was appointed to the newly created position of Director of Instructional Technology, where he supervises programs in faculty development, curricular innovation, electronic student portfolios, and infrastructure improvement.  Currently, he is acting as Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at Bronx Community College.

Robert Whittaker

Professor, Associate Provost and Assistant Vice President,

Office of Undergraduate Studies and Online Education

 

 

Robert Whittaker is a Professor of Russian Language and Literature at Lehman College, CUNY, where he serves as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Online Education. He came to Lehman in 1971, where he has taught not only Russian but also Soviet politics and Russian history. He has studied in Russia and regularly visits Moscow and St. Petersburg to conduct research on American-Russian cultural relations.

 

Most recently he has been studying and writing on the nearly two thousand letters written by Americans to the novelist Leo Tolstoy and Tolstoy's letters to Americans. At Lehman Professor Whittaker coordinates the General Education program and directs the College's online learning programs. Professor Whittaker was also instrumental in designing the new CUNY Online Baccalaureate program.

 

His current focus is on developing Lehman's Multimedia Center as a platform for expanding mediated learning and on the shared goals and objectives of the College's broad variety of undergraduate programs.

Pamela A. Krauser Vargas

Executive Director, Research Center, Kutztown University

 

Ms. Vargas has over 19 years of experience in university research administration. Her responsibilities have included the implementation of electronic research administration systems.

 

She participated in a Department of Energy pilot study on electronic research administration and assisted with the testing of enhancements for the National Science Foundation’s FastLane system.

 

She currently serves as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Research Administration and is also a member of the Academic Review Committee for The Journal of Healthcare, Science and the Humanities - A Navy Medicine Publication.

Pura Centeno

Coordinator of Technology Services and Information Literacy

Information Technology Center, Natural Sciences Faculty, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus

 

Pura Centeno has an MIS in Information Science and Technology and BA in Arts of Communication, both from UPR, Río Piedras Campus

She is member of several Editorial Boards: Acceso: Revista Puertorriqueña de Bibliotecología y Documentación, from Sociedad de Bibliotecarios de Puerto Rico and Simbiosis: Revista de Ciencia de la Información, from Information Science and Technology Graduated School.

She is Coordinator of Technology Services and Information Literacy at the Information and Technology Center of the Natural Sciences Faculty, of the Rio Piedras Campus – University of Puerto Rico (UPR). She is also Coordinator at UPR, of a system wide Community of Practice Apoyo a la Investigación y Labor Creativa (Support to Research and Creative Labor) and the institutional repository of research products at http://repositorio.upr.edu

Alyson Vogel

Associate Director, Online Education

Office of Undergraduate Studies and Online Education, Lehman College, CUNY

 

Alyson Vogel joined Lehman College in March 2010 as the Associate Director for the Office of Online Education, and is in the process of designing and leading faculty development programs in Hybrid/Blended and fully online learning environments. Before coming to Lehman she worked as a Program Development Specialist for Teachers College, Columbia University where she devoted much of her time to faculty development: course design, curriculum planning, online teaching, training, coaching & mentoring teacher educators.

Her 11-year career in educational programming and directing a US Department of Education grant project in media and technology literacy evolved from two decades working in network radio and television. Her academic interests surround online pedagogy: facilitating online collaboration, the thoughtful integration of online and Web 2.0 tools and inquiry into the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Carlos R. Morales Irizarry, Ph.D.

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Distance Education Programs
Ana G. Méndez University-Virtual Campus

 

Dr. Carlos Morales is Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Distance Education Programs at Ana G. Méndez University- Virtual Campus. As such, he provides leadership, vision and planning for the implementation of courses and programs for online delivery. Previously he was the Executive Director of Academic Technology at Lock Haven University responsible for the delivery of online courses, the incorporation of technology for teaching and learning, faculty development, the STEP program (a student laptop initiative) and also facilitated campus conversations on academic technology. Prior to Lock Haven University, Carlos was the Instructional Designer for the Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation (CITI) at New Jersey City University, responsible for instructional technology staff. Carlos has extensive online and classroom teaching experience in the areas of: Biology, Science Teaching and Instructional Technology. Dr. Morales also holds professional certifications as Distance Learning Administration Professional from Texas A&M University and Certified Online Instructor (COI) from Walden University. Morales graduated from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, with bachelors and masters degrees in Biology and Science Education, and received his doctorate, with a dissertation on Constructivist Learning Environments in Online Course Design, from Capella University. He was a Frye fellow in 2009.
