Centered in its mission and the priorities identified for the next years, the HETS Consortium has delineated three main focus areas of work:
Technology Resources and Infrastructure Effectively integrate, develop, and implement innovative technologies in education
HETS aims at impacting the effectiveness of member institutions'' in accomplishing the success of their students and educational options through the promotion of knowledge exchange and access to resources to effectively integrate, develop, and implement innovative technologies in education. As part of this component, the organization engages in negotiation strategies to acquire and cost-effectively provide access to new technologies, and achieve key collaborative agreements, dialogues, and strategic alliances between the academic and corporate sectors for these purposes. The development and implementation of technology infrastructure and initiatives are fostered and supported by the Consortium, as a non-profit entity representing organized joint funding request efforts.
Faculty Development Promoting the adoption of innovative options for teaching and learning success
HETS aims at impacting faculty performance in both face-to-face and online environments through the effective integration, implementation, and use of technology. With this target in mind, HETS serves as a facilitator of knowledge acquisition, networking agent, resource bank, and training and expertise provider for faculty at member institutions.
Student Support Services Facilitating the use of technology to overcome learners’ barriers to college success and completion
HETS aims at impacting the effectiveness of member institutions'' student support services by deploying its four main roles as a Facilitator, Negotiator, Expert and Funder. HETS seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange on how to improve the student support services for the success of Hispanic learners through the use of innovative technologies in this area. It also engages in negotiation strategies to achieve key collaborative agreements and strategic alliances for, among, and beyond its members. Ultimately, the Consortium focuses on facilitating the use of technology to overcome learners’ barriers to college success and completion. |
